Business process automation uses software to run a repeatable process, such as invoice approval, supplier onboarding or a leave request, from start to finish with little manual effort. Data moves between systems on its own, approvals reach the right person, and only exceptions need attention.
Adding AI lets the automation read documents, understand emails and handle cases a fixed rule would miss. This is often called AI process automation or intelligent process automation.
